Dining

Consider the therapy of a home-cooked meal.

Residents at Darlington Memory Lane enjoy the aroma and taste of fresh, home-cooked meals, right from the kitchen at the center of each floor. That includes three meals a day family style and snacks available around the clock. (Click for a sample menu!) And, one of our residents’ favorite activities is making cookies – there’s nothing homier than the fresh-baked aroma.

Our personal approach to dining service means:

  • Accommodating special diets such as low sodium or diabetic is no problem.
  • If a resident isn’t ready to eat at mealtime, we’ll keep it hot until they’re ready and sit with them while they eat.
  • If the meal choice isn’t something they like, all they have to do is ask for something else.
  • Mealtime includes a familiar, friendly face – food is served not by waiters, but by the residents’ caregivers.
  • Family are always welcome to join us for meals: just like home.

We’ve incorporated the latest Alzheimer’s research in the kitchen too. Science has shown that patients suffering from Alzheimer’s have reduced depth and color perception so we’ve chosen bright-colored dinnerware and light-colored table coverings to create as much contrast as possible.
