Make yourself at home.

If it weren’t for the sign out front, the big Victorian with the graceful landscaping and welcoming front porch at 123 Armistice Boulevard could be mistaken for just another grand old New England home in historic Pawtucket. The beautiful Blackstone River and Slater Memorial Park are right nearby, along with the oldest running Looff carousel in the world.

Darlington’s home was a private home at first, converted over the years to accommodate assisted living. Now it offers respite and relaxation in an inn-inspired atmosphere, with warm and soothing decor that reminds you of home. Offering both private single rooms with half baths arranged in cozy suites and shared doubles, the bedrooms are brightly painted and fully furnished. Residents may also bring their own furniture to feel completely at home.

Most residents spend a good deal of time in our great room with large skylights to let in the sun, elegant chandeliers and hardwood floors, homey furniture, fireplace, large flat-screen TV and piano for entertainment. This is the site of many gatherings, from piano sing-alongs to exercise classes. A cozy corner has a soothing fish tank and a comfy couch for reading, and our library has a wide range of topics to choose from. The nearby central nurses’ station helps staff share notes over shift changes as well as watch over residents.

A secure facility, the backyard has a barbecue grill and picnic tables for seasonal outings, plus a garden area where residents grow vegetables, flowers, and herbs, some of which the kitchen uses.  It’s all built with safety gear in mind, designed around the philosophy that the more independent residents can be, the more they thrive.
